Marisol is a communications intern at Footage, organizing and archiving visual content for use in social media. She is a rising senior at the Univ. of Southern California majoring in both cognitive science and studio arts. She first became involved with nonprofits at age 15 as a workshop participant at San Anto Cultural Arts Center in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, then moved up to mentoring youth and painting murals in just a year. As a minority student struggling at a predominantly white high school, she realized the profound value of supporting others through nonprofit service especially. Since then, she has volunteered in tropical hardwood forest restoration with Las Casas de la Selva near her family’s farm in Puerto Rico, organized events for Self Help Graphics in Los Angeles, and now proudly supports Footage’s mission to collect and amplify the stories of young women. Marisol’s artwork expands on her behavioral research and heritage’s storytelling to raise awareness about endangered species, exploited indigenous cultures and other social justice issues in Puerto Rico and Mexico. She has contributed to over 10 murals in the Greater Los Angeles and San Antonio areas and been spotlighted in four publications including sources like The USC Daily Trojan and The Practical Handbook for Emerging Artists.
